The first rain in our trip fell when we arrived at our last destination in Rajasthan. Bundi is a sleepy town and the rain turned it into a nostalgia of a younger, less-touristy, India. And what better way to take a break from weeks of backpacking than to be serenaded by raindrops and deep-sleep for 12 hours?
The next day was more colorful and we saw why most travelers stay here longer; Bundi has more trees, and when the sun’s up, the blue sky and the dessert boost the greens! We went to a remote village so we could see how the locals live. Of course, we got lost. People don’t speak a lick of English here, so we spent a good hour finding our way back.
Our visit ended watching the sunset from the peak of an old palace that we hiked for 30 minutes. The view will shut you up! We stayed there and not-talked for a while, but figured we had to go down when a legion of monkeys almost chased us. It was a lax two days – a breather before one of the most challenging routes ahead! 💪
